Summer, Wilson’s Prom – 51x76cm

I have always loved the beach, from the tranquil waters of the bays to the roaring oceans. Since I first started my artistic journey I have constantly been drawn to the water as a subject to challenge me, spending countless hours in the pursuit and study of the water in all it’s glory. For this particular scene I was enamoured with the juxtaposition of the inviting waters in the shallows and the contrast to the breaking waves in the distance. To keep with the energy of the scene I have used broad brushstrokes in thin layers under the surface, complimented with the juicy palette knife marks on the surface to catch the sparkle of the summer sun in an effort to entice you to dip your toes in…
