Flowers for me present the full circle of life -they have a beginning, peak and end to their organic cycle. On repeat and seasonal. I love ephemeral imagery in general -particularly clouds, water and natural elements of botanicals. My oversized petals remind one of sails and silks… of fragile wings. When my flowers begin to peak and wilt, I often plunge them into cold water. Water as regenerative- to give them new life.Submergence and cleansing. My monumental florals, hand in hand with water are metaphors for new beginnings-replenishing and starting afresh. This imagery correlates to this stage of my life -kids moving out of home ,big changes and a life fully immersed in art. Although my style is realistic the glaze work is painterly to create energy, has depth of colour/textures across the surface of the canvas. The up-scaling of florals allows the viewer to fall into my pieces.
