Dragon Water Fall – 60x75cm

This work explores the intersection of environmental consciousness, traditional techniques, and Japanese mythology. Inspired by the sacred waterfalls of Japan, where dragons are seen as protectors of fresh water, it emphasizes the importance of protecting clean water. Natural indigo pigment, a material reliant on clean water for cultivation, is paired with egg tempera, a traditional and sustainable medium. These materials embody a commitment to environmental care while capturing the fluidity and purity of water. The interaction of water with the pigment creates a visual language that speaks to the richness of nature’s offerings, with the raw, vibrant indigo color carrying a message of harmony and reverence.
