2019-2024 – 82x55cm

I began this self-portrait five years ago, at the beginning of an intense depressive period I hoped I could paint my way through. That didn’t quite work out. From that beginning in 2019, it lay untouched until this year. The early sketch is lurking somewhere in the depths of this painting, but this is actually the first painting I have managed to finish in the past five years, and — unfortunately — it’s representative of how those years have been. An ocean of tears.
